TRAINING

We are devoted to train students in biomedical science research. Is for that reason that in our lab we teach lab technicians, undergraduates (TFGs and TFMs) and PhD students.

Currently in the lab:

DESCRIPTION

An outstanding opportunity has arisen for a Research Fellow to join at InDeST group at INCLIVA Biomedical Research Institute. The aim of the project is to characterize molecularly the HER2 resistance and to identify new biomarkers of response and resistance to immunotherapies in digestive tumors and is intended to lead to peer reviewed publications and the award of a PhD.

Cancer related to digestive apparatus are one of the leading cause of death worldwide, and is a complex disease regarding its heterogenicity and the diverse factors involved in the evolution of the illness.  There are different treatments appropriate to treat this kind of cancer and immunotherapy has revolutionised it, however little is known about the mechanisms underlying their action mode.

Besides that, the mechanisms underlying primary and acquired resistance are multiple, complex and poorly understood. Even for patients responding to treatment, patterns of response and long-term outcomes are variable. For this reason, it is imperative to study the immunotherapy action and to identify biomarker over the course of illness including the treatment.

The InDeST group is working to develop new therapeutic interventions to improve the diagnosis and prognosis of patients suffering from cancer related to the digestive system, mainly based on the identification of molecular biomarkers such as ctDNA, miRNAs and DNA modifications.

At laboratory research, we studied mechanisms of resistance to treatments and also sought new biomarkers in liquid biopsies (cDNA, microRNAs) for early diagnosis, monitoring and prediction of therapeutic effects in patients with gastrointestinal neoplasms with the latest techniques available.

CANDIDATES

We are seeking for pre-doctoral candidates in health science for financed opportunity by Valencian regional government (Conselleria de Sanidad) through Santiago Grisolía fellowship programme.

The purpose of this PhD studentship is to lead on the development of the translational research aspects of the project, to implement robust biomarker analysis to reveal the pathological and molecular mechanisms underlying primary/secondary resistance to therapies in digestive cancer, and to understand the clinical implications of the findings.

The successful applicant should have a bachelor in health science (medicine, biology, biochemistry or equivalent) and having finished these studies in the three years prior February 2017and also to be in possession of a Health Science Master degree. Candidate should be from foreign country or must hold a foreign bachelor degree.
